Inevitably, because we are now settled in a reality where things like this occur, The Pope and Donald Trump have beef.
Pope Francis was asked about anthropomorphic shag carpet Donald Trump during a trip back to Rome from Mexico and he stated: “A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not a Christian.”
And Donald Trump, as he has been known to do, responded in a measured and thoughtful way, taking time to examine the validity and weight of the Pope’s claims, and then carefully -and eloquently- crafted an empathetic and reflective response. In his response he called for diplomacy, tact and sensitivity. He stated he would love to meet with the Pope and attempt to find some common ground so the two could move forward as allies and friends.
Nah, this is Donald Trump, he called the Pope “disgraceful” and said the Papacy will be wishing they had President Trump when ISIS blows up the Vatican.
Really, he said that.
