Listen to the first single off the Brooklyn-based psychedelic rock quartet’s debut EP Legs.
“God of the Gaps” floats in through a Tool-esque baseline, but when the vocals begin to punctuate, the vibe transitions to something a bit lighter and more ethereal. There’s pieces that are reminiscent of earlier 311 tracks but dispersed thorough a decidedly more psychedelic, 70’s lens, and the song thrives through its unpredictability. Moments when “God of the Gaps” seems primed to explode often lead into softer breakdowns, and the surprising transition at 1:45 pares down the noise to a more pop-friendly drum break. The track maintains its freshness throughout its 5+ minute run time, never meandering within a certain rhythm or framework—it’s perpetually bending, twisting and dropping.
“God of the Gaps” is the first single from That’s Right! off their debut EP Legs due out April 5th. The EP was recorded at the acclaimed VuDu Studios on Long Island (Pixies, Brand New, Fuel, As Tall As Lions, etc.)
